Statuses must support decisions
A status is useful when someone can act on it. Statuses that only describe what is already known make dashboards busier without improving control.
Practical base set
- New: intake or job has been received.
- Planned: capacity and timing are fixed.
- In execution: employee has started.
- For review: work is completed but not yet released.
- Ready for invoicing: finance can process.
Use exceptions deliberately
For exceptions such as blocked, waiting for customer or missing material, a separate reason is often better than extra main statuses.
